Minimum system requirements to rent movies
iTunes 10 or later is required to rent movies on your computer. iOS 4.2 or later is required to rent movies on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Apple TV software version 2.0 or later is required to rent movies on Apple TV.
Types of movies can be rent
Choose from new releases and catalog titles, with select films available in HD. Watch your movie with your Mac or Windows computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod (including the iPod touch, iPod nano (3rd generation or later), and iPod classic), as well as on your TV using your Apple TV. Browse the iTunes Store and look for movies with a Rent button, or check the Top Rentals Charts to find top sellers. Once you click Rent, your movie will begin to download immediately.
Period to watch a rented movie
You have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (elsewhere) after you’ve started viewing to finish it. Once the rental period expires, the movie will disappear from your iTunes library.
Device can watch movie rental
You can watch your movie rental on your computer, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, iPod classic, iPod nano (3rd, 4th, or 5th generation), or on your TV using your Apple TV (1st or 2nd generation). You can watch HD movie rentals on your computer, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or with Apple TV (1st or 2nd generation).
How many times the movie can be view
Once you start watching your movie, you can view the rented movie as many times as you wish within the 24-hour (or 48-hour) window.
What will happens if rented movie don’t watch
If you don’t watch your rented movie, it will expire in 30 days and disappear from your iTunes library. You will need to rent it again in order to watch it.
Are rented movies available in HD
Yes, select movies are available for rental in HD. You can rent and view HD movies on your computer, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV.
Can I use my iTunes Store credit to rent?
Yes, you can use your iTunes Store credit to rent movies or to purchase movies, music, TV shows, audiobooks, apps, and more.
How long will my movie take to download?
The download time depends on the speed of your Internet connection.
It is possible to delete a rented movie before the expiration date?
You can delete the movie prior to the expiration date if you want to make more space on your hard drive, iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. However, the movie will automatically disappear from your iTunes library 24 (or 48) hours after you’ve begun viewing it.
It is possible to play my rental on more than one device?
- If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
- If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Do rented movies have subtitles or closed captioning ?
Some movies do have subtitles and/or closed captioning. Movies containing subtitles will be noted either in the movie title, or within the Plot Summary of the movie. Those that have closed captioning will have the Closed Captioning logo on the movie page:
